THE WANGANUI SALE GOOD DEMAND FOR SHEEP To an excellent attendance, Freeman R. Jackson and Co. offered 6000 sheef at yesterday’s Wanganui stock sale, a.nd report a very free sale with an exceptionally good clearance. Breeding ewes were in high demand, four-year ewes on a/c Mr. N. Jackson, in only fair condition, making 23s 7d, while two-tooth ewes on account Russell Bros, made 29s Id, and Mr. J. Carter’s 295. Many of the five-year ewes were in poor condition and had uncertain mouths, yet made quite satisfactory prices. About 1800 lambs were yarded and good top lambs were keenly competed for. All lambs sold more freely and slightly above last week’s rates. Fat sheep were fully firm to a shade better and fat cattle were on a par with those of last week. Store cattle, of which only oddments were yarded, made late rates; vealers were above last week and all classs of pigs were at late rates Prices were as follow: . Sheep.—Prime wethers, 19s 3d. 20s; ewes, 11s, 12s 4d; lambs, 17s 6d, 19s Id; light, 15s 6d, 17s; four-year owes, to 23r 7d; four and five-year ewes. 17g, 20s; five-year, 15s 6d, 18s lOd; five and six-year s.m., 16s. 17s 3d: s.m. aged, 10s, 12s 9d; fattening, 3s sd, 5s 4d; good two-tooth ewes, 27s 19d. 29s Id; small, 18s, 21s; two and four-tooth, 22s 6d, 26s 2d; m.a. ewes, 18s 3d, 21s 3d; two-tooth wethers, medium, 16s; forward shorn b.f. lambs, 13s sd, 14s 2d; shorn wether lambs, 10s, 14s; woolly, 9s Id, 12s 2d; medium ewe lambs, 13s lOd, 14s 7d; culls, 9s 7d, 12s 6d; cull wether lambs, 4s 6d, 6s Id. Vealers.—Good, to £3 10s; average. £2. £2 12s 6d; only fair, 17s, £1 10s. RANGIWAHIA SHEEP FAIR N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report an excellent clearance at their sheep fair at Rangiwahia on Monday, when a good yarding of both ewes and lambs were presented to an appreciative bench of buyers. The sale opened on a pen of five-year ewes on account of Mr. W. E. Boshier, which realised 18s 4d and this set a standard which held throughout the sale, although pens on account of Mr. 11. S. Harris and Mr. W. Melrose realised 20s Id and 21s Id respectively. Several pens of two-tooth ewes were keenly sort after and prices ranged from 22s lOd to 27s Id according to quality. Store lambs brought prices in keeping with recent rates and a total clearance was effected under the hammer. They quote sales as follow:—Twotooth ewes, 22s lOd, 26s 6d, 27s Id; five-year ewes, 13s lOd, 14s 6d, 18s 4d, 20s to 20s Id; four and five-year ewes, I.Bs 3d; m.a. ewes, 19s 7d; aged ewes. 6s Id, 10s 6d to 11s; w.f. wether lambs, 7s 3d to 13s; b.f. lambs, 13s 4d; fat Jambs, 19s; fat wethers, 19s; Romney rams, 20gns.
