REDUCED PROFIT
SOUTHLAND FROZEN MEAT CO. Net profit of £21,934, against £30,985 in 1937 and £13,386 in 1936 is shown in the accounts of the Southland Frozen Meat and Produce Export Company, Ltd., for the year ended December 31, 1938. A final dividend of 8d a share is recommended, which will bring dividend distribution to £22,718, against £20,585 in the previous year, and £46,704 will be carried forward, against £47,488 brought in. The directors’ report states:— "The amount brought forward from last year after providing for interim dividend was £36,129 4s Bd. After providing for taxation, depreciation, repairs, renewals and contingencies, the net profit for the year was £21,934 Is lid, making the balance available at profit and loss £58,063 6s 7d. "The directors recommend the payment of a final dividend of 8d on preference and ordinary shares, absorbing £11,359 4s Sd. leaving a balance to carry forward of £46,704 Is lid.
