DR. MAVIS V. ZANE. NEW ZEALAND APPOINTMENT. LONDON, January 9. Dr. Mavis V. Zane, who will leave for New Zealand by the Mataroa on January 20, under engagement as school medical officer to the New Zealand Health Department, is Austra-lian-born. her native town being Wellington, New South Wales, states a correspondent. She was educated at the Presbyterian Ladies' College. Croydon, Sydney, and she entered Sydney University and graduated M. 8., Ch. M.. in 1918. After holding resident appointments in Sydney, Dr. Zane came to England in 1921, when she-.was appointed to the position of resident medical officer of the Bridgwater Hospital. Somerset. After six months there she took up an appointment as Assistant Pathologist at the Besk Laboratory Swansea : General Hospital, where sne remained I for two years, and then she went back I to Australia as medical inspector of| schools. Department of Education, j Adelaide. Within three years. Dr. Zane was' back again in the Old Country, and she went to the Rotunda Hospital, I Dublin, for study. She there obtained the L.M. Diploma. In 1928 she was appointed medical inspector of girls’ schools, Ministry of Education. Cairo, Egypt, where 10 years were spent.
