WEATHER FORECAST
Meteorological Office, Wellington, Wednesday, February 8,3 p.m. General Situation.—An anti-cyclone is located over the northern portion of the North Island while a depression extends from the South Tasman Sea across the southern portion of the South Island. Forecast.—Winds: South-westerly at first over the northern part of the North Island, otherwise west to north-west predominating. Force generally light to moderate but strong in some exposed positions and a change to south-west later in the south. Seas (N.Z. waters): Rather rough about Cook and Foveaux Straits, elsewhere slight to moderate but rising on the west coast of the South Island. Eastern Tasman Sea: Light to moderate northerly to north-westerly winds and slight to moderate seas in the northern portion. Moderate to strong north-west to west and later southerly winds and rather rough to rough seas in the southern portion. Weather: For the most part fair to fine with moderate temperatures but occasional scattered rains in western and southern portions of the South Island. Time of sunset to-day, 7.35 p.m. Time of sunrise to-morrow, 5.36 a.m. Phases of the Moon for February:—Full Moon, February 4; Last Quarter, February 10: New Moon, February 19: First Quarter, February 26.
