OIL-FUEL STORAGE
AUSTRALIAN ANXIETY GRAVE SHORTAGE IN LONG PERIOD OF ISOLATION HOBART, Feb. 7. The urgent expansion of storages of oil fuel for the defence forces was decided upon by the Federal Cabinet. Investigations by the Government have revealed that should the Commonwealth face an emergency involving any long period of isolation, a grave shortage of oil fuel would have to be faced. VOLUNTARY BASIS NATIONAL REGISTER IN AUSTRALIA. HOBART, Feb. 7. At a special sitting of the Federal Cabinet it was decided to proceed with the compilation of a voluntary national register of man power and resources. The Prime Minister, Mr. J. A. Lyons, stated that the- majority of the Cabinet considered that a voluntary plan could be put into operation more quickly than a compulsory plan.
