LOSS TO CITY
, CITIZENS’ DEATHS TRIBUTE FROM COUNCIL Motions of sympathy with the relatives of four well-known Wanganui residents whose deaths have occurred recently, were passed at last night’s meeting ot the Wanganui City Council. They were the late Mr. Alfred Harris, Thomas Warnock, W. A. Izard and W. Johnstone. “Mr. Harris was a member ot the Wanganui City Council from 1921 to 1923,” said Mr. W. J. Rogers, May-r of Wanganui. "He played a prominent part in the Chamber of Commerce and in other public organisations. Mr. Thomas Warnock was a highly esteemed business man, and was well known for his public generosity. It was he who came forward when donations were being solicited for the provision of a town clock after tne demolition of the post office lower, and donated to the city the clock which is erected in Victoria Avenue. Mr. W. A. Izard was for 30 years a well known and highly respected solicitor in Wanganui. He was a \ member of the Sarjeant Gallery Com- I mittee and also of the advisory committee. Mr. W. Johnstone was also a prominent business man, and well-known for his work on the St. John Fiee | Ambulance.
