WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

MARTON JUNCTION BRANCH. The Marton Junction W.I. held* its i first meeting of the year on Wednesday last, Mrs. Slight presiding. Mrs. Barnicoat, of Kimbolton, gave an interesting lecture on home nursing, which was very much appreciated. Also present was Miss Hazel Johnston, of Massey College, who outlined the dressmaking course which some of the members propose taking. Several more members joined the class and arrangements were made for an early start. Members are reminded that nominations for committee close with the secretary on February 18. also, anyone desiring transport to the group meeting at Bulls should hand in her name. During the afternoon Miss Neilson entertained with pianoforte solos. The competition ' results were: Socks. Mrs. Davison,. Mrs. Hodgetts 2, Mrs. Tarry 3. Traycloth, Mrs. Jones 1, Mrs. Franke 2, Mrs. Connell 3. Preserved plums, Mrs. Slight 1, Mrs. Johnston 2, Mrs. Tarry 3. Hostesses for the annual meeting are Mesdames Fogelbery and Harvey (chief), Anderson, Brabyn, Dixon, Dornbush, Follett and Fitzgerald. Those for the floor are Mesdames Rankin, Setford and Thorburn.
