WEATHER FORECAST

Meteorological Office, Wellington, Tuesday, February 7, 3 p.m. General Situation.—Pressure is still low to the east but an anticyclone is moving from the Tasman Sea on to the Dominion, the centre being west of the North Island. There has been a further fall of pressure over south-eastern Australia. Forecast. —Winds: South-westerly to southerly, moderate in the north but elsewhere moderate to strong. A change to westerlies or north-westerlies advancing northwards to-morrow to beyo\d Cook Strait. Seas (N.Z. waters): Rather rough to rough on the west coast and in the far south, elsewhere slight to moderate in coastal waters but rough at first off shore south of East Cape. Eastern Tasman Sea: Moderate south-westerly winds but a change to strong west to northwest advancing from the south. Seas moderate but rising in the southern and later the central portions. Weather: Mostly fair to fine with cool but rising temperatures, showers probable in the far south, however, and extending later along the west coast of the South Island. Time of sunset to-day, 7.36 p.m. Time of sunrise to-morrow, 5.35 a.m. Phases of the Moon for February:—Full Moon, February 4; Last Quarter, February 10; New Moon, February 19; First Quarter, February 26.
