OBITUARY

MR. DESMOND CARTER Received Feb. 6, 5.5 p.m. LONDON, r eb. 4. The death has occurred ot Mr. Desmond Carter, author and lyric writer. Desmond Carter was educated at Bristol Grammar School and began work as an insurance clerk. In 191618 he served in the Royal Garrison Artillery. He became a contributor tu “Punch, ” “London Opinion,” and other journals and was part author of many stage shows, including "Waltzes from Vienna," “Jill Darling,” “The Sleeping Beauty," for which he also wrote tne lyrics, and of "The Dubarry,” while he wrote lyrics for “Lady Luck," "Hold My Hand,’* “Primrose,” "Over She Goes,” and others.
