WEATHER FORECAST
Meteorological Office, Wellington, Monday, Feb. 6, 3 p.m. General Situation.—The recent depression is now centred near Chatham Island where pressure is low. An anti-cyclone covers the Western Tasman Sea and is moving eastward. Forecast. —Winds: South-west to southerly, strong at first in some exposed positions, especially in the South Island, but decreasing and for the most part light to moderate. Seas (N.Z. waters): Rather rough to rough at first on the west coast and in the far south but decreasing gradually and elsewhere slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Light to moderate southerly winds, later turning west and northwest in the southern portion. Seas slight to moderate. Weather: For the most part fair but with considerable low cloud and in places fog accompanied in some localities by drizzling rain. Temperatures moderate to cool. Time of sunset to-day. 7.37 a.m. Time of sunrise to-morrow, 5.34 a.m. Phases of the Moon for February:—Full Moon, February 4; Last Quarter, February 10; New Moon, February 19; First Quarter, February 26.
