GONVILLE CROQUET CLUB
PLAYERS HONOURED A basket of choice cactus dahlias in the club's colours of red and white, was the delightful decoration on the table in the Gonville Croquet Club pavilion on Saturday, when a special afternoon tea was given by the members of the club for the players who did so well at the Dominion tournament held recently in Palmerston North. Also prominent, on the table was an iced fruit cake bearing the words “Progress and Success." A feature of the gathering was the number of honorary members present. The tea hostesses were Mesdames Lockett and Hampton and Miss Gerric.
The president, Mrs. F. H. Uttley, welcomed all and expressed pleasure at seeing so many of the honorary members present. She spoke of the achievements of the players and said how proud the club members were of Mr. F. Harrison and Mr. MeClymont. The president congratulated them on their success in bringing laurels to themselves, their club and town. After thanking the club, Mr. Harrison and Mr. MeClymont gave a brief and interesting resume of their games. Other players honoured were Mesdames Svenson, Healey, MeClymont, and Burrell. The singing of "For They Are Jolly IGood Fellows" brought a happy occasion to a close.
