BUTTER-BOX COSTS
PALMERSTON NORTH CONFERENCE PROTEST TO GOVERNMENT [ Per Press Association.] PALMERSTON N., Feb. 6. Reasons for the present high cost of butter-boxes were sought at a special meeting of all butter manufacturing companies in the Wellington and Hawke’s Bay provinces as shareholders in the Dominion Producers’ Co-operative Agency, Limited, the chairman of directors of which, Mr. 5. A. Broadbe'lt (Levin) presided. The Linton district member of the Dairy Board, Mr. J. Brash, and the secretary of the Internal Marketing Department; Mr. McCoimor, were present. The chairman said the subject had caused a great deal of anxiety in the past year or two. Action was called for. After a lengthy discussion on comparative prices it was decided that an emphatic protest be made to the Government against continued increases in the price of butter-boxes, which would considerably reduce the return to producers supplying factories.
