Bowling enthusiasts in Wanganui enjoyed ideal weather conditions on Saturday for play in the various competitions. Wanganui East won the Willis Shield as a result of securing 62 wins out of the seven Willis Shield games played on Saturday, and their record on the aggregates was six wins out of the seven rounds played. Wanganui East also holds the Nixon Cup, which trophy was won during December. The Senior Shield was won by the Wanganui Club, which came through the series without being defeated.
