EGMONT RACING CLUB

THE SUMMER MEETING ACCEPTANCES CLOSE TO-NIGHT The Egmont Racing Club's summer meeting will be held at Hawera on Thursday and Saturday of this week and with the prospects of large fields the first day in particular should provide attractive fare for followers of form. Acceptances for the first-day events are due to close at 9 o’clock to-night. The win-and-place betting system will operate at the meeting, and this should ensure generous straight-out dividends, with plenty of scope for the ‘‘place” bettor, as three dividends appear certain in practically all events. The first race each day is set down to start at 12 noon. Fast passenger trains leave Wanganui each day at 8.20 a m. and are due to arrive at the racecourse at 11.14 a.m. The return train leaves Hawera racecourse each day at 5.47 p.m. and is due at Wanganui a few minutes after 9 p.m. Wanganui patrons should note the special cheap excursion fares advertised.
