Trench Fight led past the mile from Night Dress, Haughty Winner, Sovereign Lady, Petersham, Rabble and Queen of Song. Crossing the top Trench Fight was two lengths clear of Haughty Winner ana Night Dress. with Queen of Song moving up. Trench Fight was followed into the straight by Queen of Song, Haughty Winner and Night Dress Queen of Song did best to win by a length from Trench Fight, with Haughty Winner three lengths away. Phalanx and Top Row were the first to show out and rounding the far turn Phalanx was followed by Second Innings, Top Row, Golden Chest and Fidelis. Phalanx and Second Innings carriea on across the top and were followed into the straight by Golden Chest, Top Row and Paper Slipper, Top .Row did best to win by half a length from Second Innings, with Wine Card a head away.
