Dunedin Loan Met. A loan of £200,090 obtained by the Dunedin City Council in London matured on Wednesday and was met by the payment of a cheque for £250.000, including exchange of £50,000, to the Bank of New Zealand in Dunedin. Blackberry Crops. Recent rains have had a quickening effect on the ripening of blackberries found growing in their wild state in many districts around Auckland. Most people, and particularly motorists, have their favourite spots for the picking of the berries for eating and jam-making purposes. It is probable that within a few weeks the plants, wherever they are to be found, will be stripped of their crops, which are generally heavy and well developed. Several areas close to the city bear blackberry plants, in spite of their condemnation as a weed, while their prevalence is much more general in the country districts. Unusual Catch. A fish not often caught in New Zealand waters, a tuna three feet long, was taken on a groper line by two sons of Mr. C. W. Pawley, of Island Bay, Wellington, when fishing near! Mana Island, on Tuesday. The fish, which had fins about two feet long, a tail much like a shark, a body resembling a porpoise, and large eyes,, was caught on the wire drag of an ordinary groper line, in about 60 [ lathoms of water.
