WEATHER FORECAST
Meteorological Office, Wellington, Thursday, Feb. 2, 3 p.m. General Situation.—Pressure is very uniform and relatively high over the New Zealand area but a fairly deep depression has just passed Tasmania. Forecast. —Winds: Light to moderate variable south-easterlies predominating, first about and north of Cook Strait, but a change to freshening northerlies advancing from the south during to-night and to-morrow. Seas (New Zealand waters); Slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea: Winds light to moderate, variable at first but turning soon to northerlies and freshening somewhat later. Seas, slight to moderate, but rising in central and southern portions. Weather: Some drizzling rain in places between Hawke's Bay and East Cape. Fog on isolated parts of the coast, otherwise fine at first and later scattered, but mainly light rains developing in Westland and the far south. Temperatures rising. Time of sunset to-day, 7.42 p.m. Time of sunrise to-morrow, 5.29 a.m. Phases of the Moon for February'.—Full Moon, February 4; Last Quarter, February 10; New Moon, February 19; First Quarter, February 26.
