Tennis of a high standard was enjoyed by members of the Waverley i Lawn Tennis Club last week-end, > when all members were drawn in a mixed doubles handicap event for a ! trophy very kindly presented by Mrs. H. P. Mitcalfe, and ladies' and mens’ ; singles handicap events for trophies presented by Mr. A. G. Wallace, a life ? member of the club. Play continued ■ until a late hour when i.n the doubles final D. Newland and Miss M. Alex- : ander beat S. F. B. Besley and Miss - M. Dickie. In the final of the ladies' section of the singles, after a very > interesting game, Miss D. Dickie heal : ' Miss S. Johnston. . In lhe semi-final of the men’s ; I singles. A. Sands heat. W. Simson. | The other semi-final will be played . between M. Dickie and C. Bosher. and • (he winner of this match will play A. Sands. PERSONAL ’ Miss Cath Phillips, ot New Plymouth. is the guest of Miss B. Dunn. , Miss B. Elmslie, "Hillside," is spend- , ing a holiday in the Wairarapa district. Miss Norma Flett, who has been , staying with her grandfather. Mr. Eames, has returned to Auckland.
