YOUTHFUL CRIMINALS
AUCKLAND’S BOY BURGLARS RAID ON SCHOOL CUPBOARDS. (Per Press Association). AUCKLAND, Dec. 13. A charge of breaking and entering ; ■M'-'ti Eden School on December 5, with intent to commit a crime, was pxuAcrreu in the Police Court against Douglas George Weavers, aged 18, and I two other boys, aged 16 ana I’7, whose names were suppressed. Weavers and the elder of the oth»r i two boys were also charged with breaki ing and entering Normal School, Wcl I Jcsley Street, on November 28, and stealing articles of a total value of £4. i and breaking and entering the warei house of Wright and Jaques, Lui , i printers and stationers, Albert Street, i on November 13, and stealing further i articles. In addition, Weavers, alone, was charged with breaking and enterj ing Newton East School on December ’ 5, and stealing 1:5 Id. Statements made by the boys were produced. One *boy, against whom i there was only o«e charge, that of breaking and entering Mount Ed<*n School, admitted keeping watch whiie the others entered the school. He pleaded guilty to the charge, and was committed to the Supreme Court for trial. The other two, in their statements, admitted entering various premises • through widdows and ransacking drawers and cupboards. They pleaded guilty, and were committed for sentence. When application was made for the suppression of the boys’ names, it was stated that Weavers was already on probation, and his name could not be suppressed.
