MR COATES ON TOUR WELCOMED BY SIR JAMES CRAIG. A BETTER EMPIRE UNDERSTANDING. LONDON, Dec 12. Sir James Craig (Prime Minister of Ulster) cordially welcomed the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates and Mrs. Coates at Belfast station. Cabinet members and a large gathering of the public attended. A guard of honour, provided by the Ulster Constabulary, with a band, was drawn up on the platform. Mr. and Mrs. Coates proceeded to Stormont Castle where they lunched with Sir James and Lady Craig. Mr. Coates, in the afternoon, opened a bazaar. He said that the Imperial Conference was a success. It had cleared away difficulties and misunderstandings and delegates would return to the Dominions and urge their own peoples to build up a stronger Empire. The Dominions were grateful for the assistance rendered during* their infancy. They could walk now unassisted, but were anxious to repay their debt and show their gratitude to the Motherland.
Mr. Coates later visited Londonderry where he was greeted by Sir James Craig. Joybells pealed from the cathedral. He returned to Belfast in the evening.
