THROWN SIX FEET
BY CARBIDE EXPLOSION STOREKEEPER SUFFERS BURNS. (Per Press Association.) WHANGAREI, Dec. 9. Alfred Beat, storekeeper, Hikurangi, spilled vinegar on a cask of carbide. Tn order to ascertain if the vinegar had entered the cask he approached with a lighted candle. The violent explosion threw him six feet and burned his face and head. His eyesight was not injured. Beat was taken to hospital.
