CAMERA COMPETITION
AWARDS ANNOUNCED SOME GOOD WORK RECEIVED. WINNING PRINTS TO BE PUBLISHED IN “CHRONICLE.” Entries came from far and near for tho Wanganui “Chronicle’s” Christ mas photography competitions, no fewer than 3SI prints being received, 159 of them in the outdoor scene section. The majority came from Wanganui and the wide country area in which the “Chronicle” circulates, but there were numbers from further afield, Napier and Wellington being particularlv well represented. Some of the prints show distinct artistic merit and careful preparation and treatment; some are obviously the work of beginners; taken all round th? selection is a very creditable one, especially in the scenic class. The choice of subject is frequently good, but the study is spoiled bv an unattractive setting or an unsuitable background. Some very good subjects have been handled badly, and on the other hand, several fine studies have been built up from mediocre objects. Mr F. .1.
