A mail named Victor Gaubert has been a nested for the murder of his wife Eliza; gin the. village of Lappene, near Marseilles. The circumstances to • semble those of" the Crippen case. Eliza disappeared; in CLtober. her husband alleging that she had gone to Mauritius. He* later announced her death and married Antonio Siddels, a village girl.- During repairs work>n.-.«)i noticed that the tiles in the scuilery were uneven and discovered the body of Eliza Gaubert. The accused status that Eliza and he had a violent altercation over Antonio, and she su<irieuly dropped dead. Fearing arrest he timed the body. >
