The Minister of Customs was waited on iby a trepi"esentative <jf the Union Company and asked whether something could nob be done to modify tihe decision that values for duty in tihe case of Canadian manufactures should be taken to mean the cost of the ai'ticle at the port of shipment. It was ssfbated tlhat the effect of this regulation had been to reduce the quantity of cargo offering for Australia.
The iMinister said tihat if the company could suggest any plan by "which the revenue could he protected and at the same time do away with tihe complaint he would be willing to consider it.
