Hundreds of Jews killed in the recent massacres at Odessa were interred at night, unconrned and unidentified. Two -hundred and fifty bodies were unreicognisa'ble,- having 'been battered with hammers-
(Great oarnage occurrd at villages in the vicinity. Hundreds were killed and thousands wounded. The latter are now homeless.
Forty-six railway men defended a Jewish homo' in a suburb of Odessa. (Police -and infantry shot every defender, and then pillaged tihe house and massacred the inmates. A gang, headed by a. policepi'an, entered the residence of llalbbi Slouch, and demanded the key of hie safe. The RaMn replied -that the money 'belonged to widows and orphans. Though tortured he refused to give up the key. The gang were about to behead the Rabbi, when his wife surrendered the key. . " Two thousand two hundred roubles were taken, and then Rabbi Slouch and his wife were killed.
