SIRES OP THE SEASON. EUROCLYDON (18) TO STAND THIS SEASON At Taylorville, and travel the surrounding districts. T7!UROCLYDON is a hard chestnut, JDi standing 16£ hands high. His sire, Gorton, was sired in England and foaled in Auckland. Gorton's sire, Thunderbolt, a great racehorse, was got by the great Stockwell. Gorton's dam, Lyra, was by the English Derby winner Thormariby. Lady Gertrude, dam dfr Eurocyldon, is the dam of many good ones, including Blizzard, Mistral, dam of Pampero, and Mist, dam of Vladimir. Euroclydon was one of New Zealand's greatest racehorses. As a three-year-old foe was never beaten. After winning the New Zealand Cup and Derby, he put up an Australasian record in the Canterbury Cup, 2i miles, in 3.573. As a four-year-old he earned 9.5, and only got beaten by half-a-length. Euroclydon has already sired some good horses, inoludingf Happy Home, Brighton, Radium, Lee Side, Betsy, Eurus, and a good many other winners. BY Trenton (18), a son of Musket (3), out of the great mare Frailty, she being a daughter of Gofcteborough (13). His dam, Sapphire, who is-the dam of Rupert, Marinella, Pearl, Zelendia, Ballater, Saponite, Blue Fire, who won during the season 1893-4 £2,087 in stakes, Mannlicher, wanner of C.J.C. Champagne Stakes, beating Gipsy Grand and Musketry, also won 3rd Challenge Stakes of £1000, beating Euroclydon and five others, Bijou, St. Conon, Blue Water, and others. Sapphire is by The Drummer (1) out of Amethyst, by Ambrose (1), a son of the great Touchstone (14). Being got in Australia, and not raced owing to an accident, his opportunities were lost to the turf. He is the sire of Lady Lillian, Pbaethonitis, Aeronaut, Trentbridge, and others. He is a horse of commanding size and substance, stands 16.2, and measures 9 inches below the knee. Phaethon, the only son of Trenton in the oolony, will be at the service of breeders. Early application is necessary, las he is limited to 50 mares at £5 ss. Phaethon will be at Fordell and Turakina on Mondays, Marton (at Mclndoes' stable) on Tuesdays, returning Wednesday to Wanganui for the remainder of the week at Jefferson's stables.
