A HEAVY THUNDERSTORM.

GISBORNE, November 7
.! An usually heavy thunderstorm was experienced in Gisiborne this morning, witli: heavy''hail in some parts of the :countiry. A chimney attached, to a resi-dency-in tmvn was struck by lightning with/a mostp&culia.iveffect. The inmates of that and the .adjoining house were greaitly startled by a. report resembling that of the explosion of a camion above the housetop. Small pieces of brick •rattled on the roof in an alarming manner. The 'inmates say the air seemed charged with sulphurous fumes for some little time after the occurrence.
