The greatest event of the colonial sporting calendar—the Melbourne Cup —will bo decided to-day. This year the race bears a remarkably open appearance, and a very large number of those engaged havo been solidly supported for tho race. In the opinion of the Writer, those whose prospects appear most promising are Warroo, Scot Free, Fatric, Torah, Aurate, and Rosemead, and thoso most likely tofight out the finish may be • SCOT FREE.
