THE BRUCE SEAT.
DUNEDIN, Noyeniber 3. Mr W. D. Mason; 'who is opposing Mr James Allen for Bruce, opened his campaign at Milton to-night, where he •addressed the electors. He received an attentive [hearing, and was accorded a unanimous vote of thanks for his address. He said the fight was purely; a party- one. He supported the Seddon Government because it was the best administration in tlhe interest of the workers, and; by the workers he meant every person who toiled with hand or brain. He pointed out that the Opposition had fought, tooth and nail,l against, every iaw"paiced on the Statute.Book by the Government for the benefit of the workers, of tie,farming community, and of the trading classes. He. was opposed to the Bible reading in schools. He was utterly .opposed to the sale of Crown lands.
Mr James Allen, who is seeking reelection, spoke at Kaitangata to-night, and had an attentive hearing. He devoted himself principally to criticising the events of the past session. He gives 'his main address at Milton on Monday.
