BIRDS AND FLOWERS OF MAORILAND.
Wo hava received from Messrs. H. I. Joces and Son, Limited, a charming set of six post cards in colour of the birds and flowers of New Zealand, after tho original paintings by Mr. C. N Worsley, and a series of the "beauty spots of New Zealand" post cards, from paintings by Mr. L. W. Wilson. These post cards certainly reach the highwater mark of perfection, in throe colour work, and are down to the smallest details absolutely faithful reproductions of the original paintings. Everyone should post a set of each series to friends at Home, and serve the double purpose of delighting the recipient and helping to make known the wonders of "God's own country."
On Wednesday next, the Bth instant, Williams and Harper will sell by public auction, on the Racecourse, another portion of the old grandstand. Particulars of same can be seen in our advertising columns. Tho wet-weather has followed on the heels of summer so closely that many ladies have left the choosing of their warm weather attiro until late, and here wo are with the summer upon us and nothing ready for the Show next week. They are satisfactory alt over—always.
■M. Sybil, of the West End Tea Rooms, has a replace advertisement in this issue with reference to her new shop in the Avenue (next Harrop and Anderson's). Floral designs of all descriptions is her speciality. Ladies' and gentlemen's sprays and buttonholes are made up fresh every day. Messrs Levin and Co., Limited, in. conjunction with Messrs Freeman R. Jackson and Co., request settlers to send in their consignments for the forthcoming wool and skins sale (to be held on 22nd November) at latest on- the Saturday prior to 'the sale.
