CHRISTCHURCH, November 2. The morning was beautiful and a large number of horses worked. The proceedings were interesting, the going being good. Quarryman and Sigiialman ran a mile and a quarter in 2 mins. 15 sees., Signalman apparently holding his stable companion. Achilles covered two circuits at half and threequarter speed. Ghoorka went twice zound at- half speed. Glenowlet and Tomorrow ran five furlongs, in 1 mm. 3i •sees. Calibre had Golden Knight well beaten over a mile on the plough. Chivialry defeated Boris over six furlongs in 1 mm. 161 sees., the performsince being an attractive one. Step--dancer covered a mile and a quarter on -the plough in 2 mins. 13 sees.—a very creditable performance. Kirrimuir defeated Stronghold by three lengths over half a mile in 48 sees.—an exceptionally smart performance. Douche and Faritutu galloped a. mile and a quarter in 2 mins. 11 sees., Douche finishing' in front. Paritutu performed disappoin tingtyi being vigorously ridden from the straight. Mystification, Veneer and Mahutonga raoi. 1£ miles. The first two finished together, Mahutonga, although ridden vigorously, failing to keep with them. Time, 2 mins. 41^ sees., neither of the leaders being extended. Solution easily deefated Brighton over live -furlongs, the last half mile taking 48 ■sees- Solution was fully extended at the finish. St. Joe defeated Tirole by "10 lengths over a mile on thts plough
in 1 niin*. 43$ sees. Zimmerman was better than Munjista at the"end of half a milo in 50 sees. Vladimir d-* fcated Stsrshoof over six furlongs in 1 mm. 17£ sees. Tupara had all the bese of a galiop over a mile with Taxpayer and Graduated Tax. Black Reynard and Ballarat ran five furlongs ia 1 mni.Ti£ ones. Melodeon and Lyrist ran a mik> and a half in 2 mins. 43 1-5 sea., Melodeon. who was fully extended, finishing in front, but Lyrist could have easily defeated his companion. Ailsa. and Petrovna did steady work. Mach* ma Gun was fully extended ovor six furlongs, which he ran in 1 mm. 55 ]-■ b sees. He tired psrceptibly at the finish. A Yaldhurst quartette—Porceiain, Seal Rock, Edna May, and Cre-am Jig —did steady work. Master Alix, Convoy, and Beau Seat-on galloped a mile yesterday afternoon in 1 mm. 45£ sees. The first named had all the best of the) gallop. A large number of other horses did useful, but unsensational, work.
