NELSON, November 2. Another heavy flood occurred last night following upon over. 2£. inches of rain for tfhe day. Portions, of Hardy and Bridge Streets, Toi Toi Valley, and other- kxsailities aTe 2ft under water. The river is 'bank high, and, overflowed in same paaits. A BAD STATE OF AFFAIRS

NELSON, November 2. Over two and a half inches of rain fell in 24 hours.

The lower portion of the town is flooded, and at Wakapuaka the floods are the worst for 40 years. There were fourteen slips aJong the Toad in seven miles from the oity, and beyond that the water was level witih the tops of the fence on the flat land. The bridge at Tihackwiood Creek was washed bodiily away. Oldham Creek flawed down the road for five or six chain.

At Motueka the downpour was exceptionally heavy, and the river protective works at Wakarewa are reported carried away.

Some portions of the town were flooded last night.
