CRICHTON AND NEWMAN'S SUMMER SHOW.
A SPLENDID DISPLAY
The constantly changing seasons are heralded by the keen tradesmen, who make it their business, to keep a watchful eye on the requirements of their clients. Crichton and Newman are early in the field with a really splendid assortment of summer footwear. Their beautifully dressed windows would attract attention in any town south of the line, and if further proof is necessary a look round the shop will convince the most sceptical that No. 92. Eidgway street, is in every way an up-to-date boot store. Our representative interviewed Mr. Crichton recently, and he was only too pleased to supply informiation. When ho visited England and America some years back, as the result of personal interviews with the manufacturers, he made arrangements to ensure a regular and prompt supply of view .season's goods. Consequently, such prominent makers as Bostock, Jowls Bros., Pingrees, etc., send their very latest productions to the local firm. Their stock is a most extensive and varied one, and the person in want of footwear whom they cannot please must require something much out of the ordinary- Asked to specialise a few lines, Mr. Crichton showed us some ladies' goods made in Switzerland by Bally and Co. The workmanship and material is tall that could;-bo desired, and once they become known their popularity is assured.,; Another Una 'somefrftaW'out of? t£<f ordinary' is a glace kid button • Bsil., made on a "Komfort" last .from very: soft, leather. It is a- boot made for elderly, ladies, .and supplies a ldng-felt Vant. The British Bannister, more commonly known as the "Brit-Ban," is a lady's shoe that is ecjoying great popularity. It is a most artistic creation, with Louis heels,
sparkle ornaments, etc. It is hard to imagine a more attractive shoe. All the best of the colonial makers have a place on the shelves, and it is satisfactory to note that in many cases their goods are quite equal to the imported article. But with such an immense variety to choose from ? it is invidious to make special mention. For sixteen years past Messrs. Crichton and Newman have devoted all their attention to tha footwear requirements of the town and district, and their success speaks volumes. They buy only the best, and therefore have no bad stock. Retailing at reasonable rates, their connection extends up and down the coast, and it is quite a pleasure to visit their well-ordered establishment. Briefly summed up, those who require reliablefootwear cannot do better than call at No. 92 Ridgway street, or ring up telephone No. fOl, and almost before the bell osases to vibrate their assistant will arrive with a parcel "on appro." to select from. Test them today. •
