THE AUDIT COMMISSION.

(Per Press Association).

WELLINGTON, October 31. The Audit Commission continued its sittings to-day.

Joseph Willis stated ifcbat he now believed that Captain Seddon had not received any payment in connection with the voucher, which witness and others 'had seen.

William Jodin Laroombe, another clerk in t(he Christchuroh Post Office, oonraborafted Willises statement as to seeing tlhe voucher. His belief as to the existence of the voucher was unshaken.

Thomas Wailter West, clerk in the Oha-istcfhurch Post Office, corroborated the evidence of Willis and Laroombe, as to seeing the voucher. Witness said, " Wihetsher the Departmental books e/how it or not, I swear tihat I did see it, and w m a^eair it as long as I live." Giving evidence before the Audit Commission to-day, William Laroombe, clerk in the Ohristchurch Post Office, with 22 years' service, swore that he had handled .a genuine voucher in favour of Captain Seddon. Nothing would convince him to the contrary or shake his belief that the voucher was still in existence. He was as certain that he had seen the voucher as he was tlhat he was standing in Court.

Thomas West, clerk in the Ohristchiirch Post Office, with ten years' service, said he had seen the voucher and would swear to it as long as he lived. He had not been promised that if he stuck to his statement a situation would be provided for him. What he had said was that a congratulatory telegram was received from a Mr Wake at Wanganui offering a position to Willis. David Lundon, for seven years clerk in the Ohristchurch Post Office, gave evidence tiha<t he had seen the missing voucher. He did nob suffer from hallucinations, nor had he a grievance against the Government.
