Mr. J. G. Woolley left by the midday train yesterday for Feikiing. There was a good muster of frienus on the xailway platform to see him off. A Brisbane cable announces tho death of the Hon. B. B. Morehead, legislative Councillor and ex-Premiei' of Queensland, aged 62. Mr. W. H. Price, chief clerk in the Invercargill post office for tho past 17 years, is retiring on a pension after 42 years' service, and was yesterday presented by tho members of the staff of the local and district post, office with a silver tea and coffee service. Mr. Price intends to reside in Dunedin, in which city he first entered the service.

A Dunedin wire says that a public presentation was made yesterday to Mr. G. M. Burlinson, superintendent of the Dunedin Industrial School, who, with the boys of the institution, leaves to-day for the new school at Levin. Tho Mayor presided, and, with tho Primate and loading citizens, spoke highly of the work done by Mr. Burlinsoii and his many good qualities, and wished him every success in his new sphere. Mr. J. F. M. Fraser said Mr. Burlinson was practically going to establish a modern home for the home-* 'les3, a"modern agricultural, home such as they had never had in the colony, and ho believed he would turn out such boys as would be able to go to tho farmers and team them what they did not know. Mr. Burlinson was presented with a travelling bag, pipes, etc.. and a purse of sovereigns. . Mrs Nathaniel Sutherland, who die*A at. her. residence in Pipitea street on Friday last, arrived in Wellington in the ship Stains Castle m 1841, being then 26 years of age. She was bern in Edinburgh, and came of a well known Scottish family. Mrs. Sutherland^ albeit of retiring disposition, was widely known for her kindly and chai-itable acts, and was held in the highest respect. Sho was twice married, and leaves a son and daughter by the first marriage—Mr. John Waters, of Wellington, and Mrs. James Bertram, of Devonport, Auckland—and two sons by the seoond marriage—Messrs. Nathaniel and Archibald Sutherland, sheep farmers, of Fordell, Wanganui. There are thirty-four grandchildren and thirty-sight.' great grandchildren. Hei> husband, Mr. Nathaniel Sutherland, was for some years printer for the New Zealand "Spectator"—an old-time Wellington newspaper.—"Times:"
