RAETIHI, October 28
A meeting has been lusld here re n&king for a portion of the Parapara road grant to be spent at this end of tho road.
Tho No-License Council's organiser is •at present holding meetings at varioui parts of tho district. The concert which was promoted by our local Football Club, in aid of Mr. W. Pike, passed off very successfully. The Band gave some selections previous to tho following programme :—Comic song. C. Hallum (encored) ; duet, Mrs Stephonson and Mr. W. Walker; recitation, M'ss Halverson; song. Mr. Ford; Bong, Miss Milligan ; song, Mr. E. Vine; song, Mr. Hird ; interval: song, Mi. Walker; recitation, Mr. Punch; song, Mr. AY. Lambert; song, Miss Armstrong; phonograph, Mr. Merson; song, Mr. J. Hall; recitation, Mr. C. Williams; song, Mr. Carthy. A'.iss A. Walker played the accompanin'ents. A well-attended dance followed
The Government have commenced on tho road between Ohakune and the Makotote Viaduct, a* distance of about 13 miles.
Another person was brought before tho local J.P.s, for using obscene lan-gr-age. He was convicted and ordered to pay cosis.
