CHRISTCHURCH, October 28. The weather was fine for training operations this morning, but the trial grass, on which most of the work wat. done, was heavy. Qtlarryman, without being pressed, beat Gay Spark by two lengths, over li miles, which occupied 2 mins. 2-5 sees. Signalman beat Golden Vein by three lengths over a mile, dono in 1 mjn. 53£ sees. Kirriemuir defeated Glenowlet in a half mile gal« lop easily in 51i sees. Golden Knight : and Mahutonga galloped 14 miles—a pure working gallop—in 2 mins. 55£ sees. Veneer beat Mystification over a mile and a quarter; and Tirole easily ' held Euclid over six furlongs. Paritntu and Douche ran seven furlongs in 1 mm. 36A sees., the former having much the better of the go. Lady Wayward and Clanchattan ran six furlongs in 1 mm..214 sees., finishing together. Pas Seul easily defeated Ivanoff ovet half a mile in 51 se^s.— smart performance. Stepdaneer did the best gallop of tho morning, running a mile and a half alono in 2 mins. 48 sees., with over her Cup weight up. Chivalry cantered. Achilles, looking light, did similiir work. Solution,- who is very well, sprinted. Black Diamond ran >a good mile in 1 mm. 51 4-5 sees. Melodeon and Lyrist rah ten furlongs together. Handsome Rose, who is'also very well, ran a mile and a half. Calibre did steady pacing, and St. Joe ran a mile comfortably in 1 mm. 53 sees. Ghoorkit, who is very well, covered a' mile at three-quarter pace. Blythemaid ijan fivo furlongs in 1 mm. 8 sees. Machiue Gun ran six furlongs, with Hewitt up, on the gr.ass, in 1 mm. -22£ sees., finishing apparently with not much in hf'iid. A number of two-year-olds, including Kirriemuir, Zimmerman, Golden Gate, a:nd Mungista, were given sprinting dashes. A large number of other horses worked. Buckley's team, consisting of Master A'lix, Beau Seaton, Convoy, and Lady Landon, arrived last night.
