NO-LICENSE AND POLITCIAL CANDIDATES.

To tho Editor

Sir, —I see by your issue of this -morning tihat Mr !A. Straolian has the idea tha* Mr Basselt is the Prohibition candidate for Wiangamni, and as it is -possible fahatt there are obliors who t3ii'iik -wibh (him in this matter, will you periniij me to inform these good people that -fhe Wangaaiui Prohibition League is not ■a political organisation, aJnd ds not being used in any way ito assist Mr Bassett's

candidature. We have in our ranks men and women of different shades of political belief, and while tihere may ibo a rood 'number who would be pleased to see Mr Bassett elected, feeling sure that he would assist in safeguarding our interests in the House, some of our most active workers are trying 4;o secure the return of some of the other candidates. All we ask is that the electors will vote No-License by striking out the top line, and we aire perfectly satisfied to allow (them to vote for their owin particular political candidate. I would just like to remind Mr ■SbrachJain that the faddists, as ho dubs tfrem, are getting fairly numerous —there were 151,524 of them at the last poll.—l am, etc., J. R. JOHNS,

Sec. Wanganui Prohibition League October 27, 1905.
