A SELF-DENIAL RECORD.
(Per Press Association). HASTINGS, October 27. The local Salvation Army self-denial collection amounted to £133. ELTHAM, October 27. The result of the ElMiam Salvation Army, selfrdeniad week established a •record, £241 being raised; BLENHEIM, October 27. The result, of tlie- Salvation Army's self-denial effort in frhja Blenheim district is a total subscription of £260. This is a record, being £60 more than the previous return. , It is very gratifying to learn that the local Salvation Army Corps lias put up a record so far as the annual selfdenial effort is concerned. The sum collected is £256, which is a record for Wanganui, last year's collection being £161. Of the sum collected, however, £82 is due to the performance of the Biorlma Company, which showed all through New Zealand for the same purpose. Deducting this amount, a sum of £174 is still left as a result of the collectors' labours, which is still ahead of last year's subscription. We congratulato Adjutant Thurkettle and his officers on this splendid result. The adjutant wishes us to thank all who helped.
