The brigands iirst demanded a ransom of £40,000, and then £20,000 for the release of Captain -Crowther- and Lieutenaimt Hutton, feut finally accepted ten rifles and 10,000 oartiridges. Mf Lowther, the British Minister, has made a demand for the punishment of the kidnappei's.
