MALATUA, MALATUA (8) by the mighty Malua (3), winner of the Melbourne Cup, dam Faithful, by Darriwell (26), also a win-* ncr of the Melbourne Cup, is a rich bay horse, foaled in 1895. He stands 163 hands and possesses plenty of bone and substance, and moreover is free from blemish, and is one of the handsomest and healthiest horses in the country. His performances stamp him as a most successful and speedy racehorse, and are too recent jto need recapitulation here, as they may be seen by reference to the Turf Register. Malvolio, also a winner of the Melbourne Cup, is by Malua, and a sire of many winners on the flat and over hurdles. According to the "Bruce Low" figure system, Malatua (8) is a sire horse by Malua (3), St. Albans (2), Blair Athol (10), son of Stockwell (3), Peter Wilkins (3), Flying Dutchman (3)". and Bay Middleton (10). He traces back on his sire's family to one of the,, most successful lines in the Stud Book. On his dam's side, Darriwell (26), Tim Whiffler (3), Van Galen (5), Conrad 11. (5), Lecturer (2), Calsterdale (18), and Lacydes (3) are figures worth mentioning, being of running and sire families which is a great combination. MALATUA is a male descendant of the Byerly Turk, and the tap root of the pedigree is "The Bustler Mare."
