Sir Henry Irving's funeral was largely attended. The Queen sent a white cross, inscribed "For- Henry Irving, with deepest regret," adding his last words on the stage.

Lady Irving, with personal mourners, was present, and society, art, letters, and all the professions were fully , represented at the interment.
