Mr. and Mrs. W. S. Dustin, of Wanganui, are passengers by the Ruapehu, which is expected to arrive in Auckland about Wednesday. Mar M. J. Mahoney, of the local telegraph office, left on Saturday for Maiigaweka, where he will act as" relieving officer for a month.

The Dunedin correspondent of tho " Lyttelton Times" states that it is understood that Mr T. H. Ham<jr, popularly, known on the secretarial staff of the Premier will succeed Mr Huntly Eliott (who is retiring on pension) as under-secretary in the Mines Department.
