WRECK OF A BARQUE.
THE COUNTY OF AYR ASHORE
(Per Press Association)
DUNEDIN, October 20. News has been received that the barque County of Ayr, Captain Tulloch, which sailed yesterday for Lyttelton •with pant of her original cargo from Port Esperance, has been wrecked at the mouth of the Shag River, North of Shag Point, clc&e to where the Italian barque Antioche Accame was wrecked •about four years ago. Particulars to hand are so far meagre. JYom Palmerston it is stated that up to seven o'clock one of the crew had got fishore. One of the masts broke off, and the sea was piling her up The vessel, it is said, drifted ashore this morning. From Shag Point, however, it is reported that a boat got ashore with ladies. The captain had his wife and daughter on board, and they would doubtless be the ladies referred to. It was added that the boat had gone off to the wreck again. One account says that j& heavy sea was running and the weather was foggy, but if a boat got .ashore and went back again the sea cannot be so heavy. The fog is too dence to permit of sending a tug from Port Chalmers, but possible the Talune, which left for the North in the afternoon, may be ajble to render assistance if any is required
