Mr. F. G. Robson, advance representative of the Westminster Glee Singers," is at present in town making arrangements for the company's appearance here on November 7th and Bth.
Mr. H. W. Hole, who has heen liv* ing on his farm at Raorikia, for some time, returned to Wanganui yesterday. He will take up his residence at Tayforth. ■■•••"•. -■.
The Hon. J. T Peaoockj M.L.C M died yesterday morning. , Deceasad waa the eldest son of Mr. John. J. Peacock; and was born in 1827 in, the Hawkesbury district, New South. Wales. Ha came to New Zealand .> when fifteen years old, and settled down in Canterbury as a merchant and shipowner. He sold out his business in 1863, and visited England. Be was a member o2 the Provincial Council in the early days, and Secretary for PubHc Works for two years. In 1869 he was elected member for Lyttelton, and five years later was called, to the Legislative Council. He was one of the original promoters of the Kaiapoi Woollen Company, of the Union -Insurance Company, and of the New Zealand Shipping Company. He was also connected with other successful commercial enterprises. He was twice married, and leaves a widow and two stepsons.
