LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.

WELLINGTON, October 19. The Council met at 2.30 p.m. The Canterbury Agricultural College Reserves Bill, the Government Advances ix> Settlers Bill, and the Waikaka Branch Railway Bill were put through the final stages. The Hon. Pitt moved the second reading of the Workers' Dwellings Bill, and explained the measure at some length -on the lines of the Minister Lai speeches in the House.

The Hon. Trask would not oppose the Bill, but he approved the building society as a superior one. The Hon. Reeves complained of the crude draughtsmanship of the Bill. The Hon. Rigg suggested that the Bill bo sent to the Labour Bills Com---xnit&ee. After further discussion the debate ■was adjourned. The Council rose at 5 p.m. until 11 -a.m. next day.
