WANGANUI AGRICULTURAL ASSOCIATION.

A imeeting of the above was held on Wednesday afternoon at the offices, St. Hill Street. Present—Messrs E. Perrett (in the cbair), R. Russell, C. Perrett, Higgie, Maclean, Ross, D. Ross, A. O. Lees. T. Baniber, D. Taylor, C. F. Millward, J. 6. Swan, E. A. Campbell, J. Blair, J. Wilson, and Dr. Graham. JUDGES.—Messrs Cruickshank and A. M. iMcOraigh wrote accepting positions of judges at the Show. Mr R. K. Maclean wrote declining to act, and it was decided to wait© to Mr Baxter, of Auckland, and Mr H. Knight, of PaIhiatua, with a view to getting one of them to -bake 'Mir 'Macle-an's place.—lt was also decided that Mr Young, veterinary surgeon, be asked to judge the /horse-shoeing.

TENDERS.—The tender of Mr P. 'Hartshorn, was .'accepted for the publican's booth at the Show, and Mr Hodson's tender was accepted for tlie luncheon booth.

STALLS.—The matter of letting stalls at the Show was left in the hands of Messrs Sinclair and Russell, with power to act. ■NEW MEMBERS.—Messrs F. Moore, F. Lind, Hope-JoSmstoiie, and E. Humphrey were elected members of the Association.

HOLIDAY.—It. was decided to ask rtibe Education Board to grant a holiday for the school children on People's Day, in view of the large number of school exhibits Ithiat will be shown.

HORSE NUMBERS.—On the motion of Mr Sinclair it was decided that the ■tickets for horses ba posted to each exhibitor, instead of being given at the gate. AMATEUR JUDGES.—Mr Campbell asked if anything had been done regarding a suggestion which he made Last year that prizes be offered for competition by young men for proficiency in hoirse judging. Mr Campbell stated that this was done at nearly every Show, and would he of greaet benefiet to the young men, besides helping towards increasing the (number, of horse judges. Ho also stated that perhaps one of tho senior judges would, if asked, give a demonstration of hois© judging. He offered to give three guineas towards the" prizes af Mich & .competition were held.—lt was decided to include the proposal in this year's programme; that the Amateur Judges must be under thirty years of age; that the first prize bo three guineas and the .second two guineas; that the judging be for two classes of light horses to be arranged; ■and also that the judging take place about half an honur before the horses were judged by the professional judge, the winners of the prizes to bo those who judged nearest to the professional award.—'lhe Chairman iand Mr Donald Ross offered to give the other two guineas required. BUCK-JUMPING COMPETITION.— One of the members intimated that Mi* Donald 'McGregor would guarantee prize money to the amount of £7 for a buckjumping competition, and also to find the horses, and it was unanimously decided to put such an event on the programme, and to advertise the same, as it was too Slate to be included in the Show programme.—-Dr Graham was appointed to judge the competition. ADVERTISING.—Mr R. W. Comyns wns appointed to write np Show notices far the local papers. SPECIAL.—The matter of arranging for special trains was left in the hands ■of the (President and the secretary.

ENTRIES.—Mr Sinclair kindly, consented to clear his shop, or get some other suitable rcr:ms, for taking entries on the last day for receiving same. — iMir Simdiair's offer was accepted with thanks.

WOOD-CARVING.—-It was resolved that a wood-carving (class1 for adults which bad been accidentally left out of the main programme, be included in the list of exhibits, and that a notice to this effect be advertised.

ANNUAL DlNNEß.—Considerable discussion took place as to the advisa!6ility*of holding a, smoke concert instead of the annual dinner, but on a show, of- hands being taken it was decided to hold the dinner; 'and that the -President, Secretary, land Messrs E.
