MELBOURNE, October 17
The House, by 30 to 14, adopted Mr Deakin's motion to vote £25,000 to a Queen Victoria memorial, after amendments favouring the alternative of devoting the money to the hospital and liaising the amount by voluntary subscription had been rejected.
