SPEECH BY MR SEDDON.
Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, October 15. At a function in connection with the marine engineers, yesterday, the Premier announced the postponement of the proposed' .Labour Conference- to a date to be fixed later. He had received invitations to the Premiers' Conference to be held at London probably next year. There were many important questions to consider, including Privy Council reform and the establishment of an Imperial Council. 'Mi- Seddon stated that althought the New Zealand Shipping Act had received Royal sanction, there was an inclination on the paa-t of those in the Mother Country to go back on what New Zealand had done. The Act had an application which they thought might be detrimental. New Zealand's representative at the Conference would •be instructed not to go back. Mr Seddon announced that Canada had agreed to assist with a.subsidy and an arrangement would probably be concluded shortly for a cargo steamship service between New Zealand and Canada. New Zealand's revenue for the first half of this year was £100,000 more than for the similar period last'year.
