DUNEDIN, October 14. Tho weather was beautiful for the second day of the D.J.C. Spring Meet ing. The course was heavy after the recent rains. The attendance was fair. ±3593 10s. was put through the machine, making £7600 10s. for the meeting, as against £6323 last year. In the Shorts, the running of Crichton was inquired into. Rae, the jockey, explained that the horse did not shape well in the heavy going. In turning into tho straight, when he was making un oh Apollodoris, he concluded that McComb would not let him up inside, and he pulled out. The stewards let him off with censure. Telegraph Welter Hack, 6 furlongs. —Notus 1, Rubretto 2, Heirloom 3. Also started: Apprentice and Ostachioi. The latter Avhipped round at the start and took no part. Won by a head. Ranfurly Handicap, 1 mile.—Brighton 1, Juniper 2, Koputai 3. Also started: Beau Seaton, Cayatina. Won by two lengths, with Koputai four lengths away. Time, 1 mm. 54 1-5 sees.
